About Us

Port Macquarie Airport is owned and operated by Port Macquarie-Hastings Council as a commercial business unit self-funded by revenue received from airport operations.

Port Macquarie is a rapidly growing regional city located on the NSW Mid North Coast.  Our region welcomes 1.5 million visitors per year and has a population forecast to exceed 100,000 people within the next 15 years.  With passenger numbers forecast to double over the next 20 years, Council has continued to deliver infrastructure improvements to cater for the forecast increase in airline services and passenger numbers. Recent projects include, $21 million runway upgrade securing access for B737 and A320 aircraft and a $10 million terminal upgrade and $7 million parallel taxiway upgrade.

We serve the Greater Port Macquarie and wider Mid North Coast region, and caters for approximately 230,000 passengers per year, making us the 5th largest regional airport in NSW.

We support a range of Regular Passenger Transport (RPT) services, with around 50 direct return services to Sydney, Brisbane and Lord Howe Island operating per week by Qantas, Rex and Eastern Air Services.

We also support a range of general aviation activities at the Airport include pilot training, aircraft maintenance and repair work, freight and charter operations, emergency aero medical (patient transfer), search and rescue and bushfire fighting services (both fixed wing and helicopters), joy / adventure flights, private and recreational flying, and skydiving.
